Eastertoun was opened in 1955 due to a shortage of pupil places in Armadale Primary School.In the run up to Eastertoun being opened, children were educated anywhere there was a hall – Miner’s Welfare, etc.

At that time when my brothers were at the school, Armadale Primary School wasn’t big enough and they had classrooms in the West Kirk, the church on the Brae, the institute and anyone who had a hall had a classroom in it. 1951. That’s when they built Eastertoun to take the kids there.”
